Grab & Go giveaway for 153rd street elementary school

On November 15, 2020, we served 153rd St. Elementary School in Gardena, Ca. They are a Title I school with 90% of their students’ families are low-income and are socioeconomically disadvantaged. Their school receives federal funding in order to support them and their students’ educational achievement.

Community Loving showed support to these families with the essentials and necessities that can help ease off some stress, especially during these tough times. Thanks to our amazing partners, donors , and supporters, we were able to donate brand new headphones, school supplies, and TV table trays as a makeshift desk! 130 students received these school supply kits and 60 of them received a desk. We raised over $2,000 and had 216 items purchased on our Target Registry.

We were also told that there are six families that are unhoused, so in addition to the school supply kits, we gifted them hygiene kits, brand new Beats headphones, and a $50 Visa gift card.

Special thank you to all our partners for helping us make this possible! Thank you to Project Mask LA for donating 400 child masks, Diosa Leon for their tote bags, Punk Rock Martha’s for donating tote bags, hygiene items, and new books, and to #WhyWeGive for donating hygiene kits. Big thank you to all 95+ generous people for donating via Venmo, Cash App, Paypal, and through our Target Registry. Lastly, but definitely, not least, THANK YOU to all our volunteers that spent long hours in the sun and in the cold to help put together all the kits for these kids! Special shoutout to Girl Scouts that came and helped out!!

We could not have done this without all of you!!!

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to provide these essentials to the entire school, so we will continue fundraising in January to support everyone! Stay tuned!
